Creating content can be a real war when you don’t have a system to generate ideas.
I started creating content on X (formerly Twitter) in November 2023.
The struggle to keep up was so real, that I'd post a day or two, then burnout for about one whole week.
I discovered that 99% of creators struggle with this at the early stage too.
8 months in, I've gained traction and stayed consistent enough to post almost every day.
Although If I knew quick ways to generate content ideas, my content creation journey would've been 10x easier and faster.
In this letter, I'll share 4 ways to generate content ideas (and never to worry about "writer's block" again).
Before you jump in though …

How To Start Your Content Creation Journey
I plan to make this letter an exceptional one.
One that helps you through the journey of creating content.
99% of people don’t know this:
Content is mental real estate, It’s a currency you use to buy the gold of this age, Attention.
That’s why you should know how to create content in a FLOW.
Have a vision/goal
You were probably expecting me to say “Pick a niche”.
Before you pick any niche, you must first define life for yourself.
If you want to create content to build an audience, define the life you’re leading them towards.
That’s what “brand” is.
And not just a profile picture, bio, and pinned post.
Your brand is an environment – Dan Koe
Someone should follow you for at least 1 month and feel tilted toward a direction.
I believe and preach the holistic approach to life.
Spiritually
Mentally
Healthwise
Financially
Relationship
A life of balance, where an area of your life don’t have to suffer because of another.
And that’s the life I’m my audience towards.
Pick a niche
In a space like Web3, niching down is important.
Although, Web3 is already is a niched part of tech, there’s room to go nicher ;)
There are lots of niches you can settle for like:
Gaming
NFT
RWA
AI/Machine learning
On the other, you can be the guy who talks about every area in the space that piques your interest.
To point out, about 81% of people that read the Phoenixx Letter are Web3 folks, I tend to make more references to this space.
But that doesn’t mean this strategy doesn’t apply to other spheres.
4 ways to start generating content ideas — Today
Again, you don’t have to burn out trying to figure out what to post today or tomorrow.
That said, I want to make this as simple as possible:
1. Know the pain
If you’re going to create content for a group of persons, you must understand the pain points they have in common.
Example: The majority of my audience are those looking to make their first $500–$10,000.
This makes me create content that would help push them towards that goal.
I talk about things like…
Web3 Jobs
$0 Airdrop
Solid low-cap gems
This way, my content resonates with them and triggers them to take action.
If you're wondering how to identify your target audience then create an audience persona, a representation of what your target audience looks like (I talk about this in detail inside the Mastering Content Writing course here)
2. Topic Clustering
Clustering helps your content stay:
– Structured
– Organized
If I intend to help my audience understand one broad concept, I just need to break it down into interconnected clusters of content and post progressively.
This would make your content creation process more strategic and coherent.
Let’s get practical:
- Pick a Pillar Content
A major theme or idea that aligns with your overall content strategy.
Example: “The evolution of Web3.”
This core idea can guide the rest of your content and provide a reference point for your audience.
- Break into cluster content:
This is where you break down into smaller focused pieces of content that dive deeper into subtopics related to the main pillar content.
Three things cluster content does:
1. Simplify concepts
2. Not overwhelm your audience.
3. Help you cover your main pillar content from different angles and perspectives.
Example:
The pillar idea could be “The evolution of Web3”
Sub: “The role of blockchain in web3” or “What is DAO and how’s it shaping the future of Governance?”
You can use subtopics as stand-alone content to provide detailed information that supports the main idea. This helps you generate as many content ideas as possible from just one topic.
3. Steal like an artist
You don’t have to reinvent the wheel.
There are thousands of wheels out there that need your unique perspective.
I read the book “Steal Like an Artist” by Austin Kleon and he mentioned in his book that stealing isn’t bad.
Now, I need you to open your mind here and not quickly jump off to steal someone’s content.
“Good artist copy, Great artist steal” – Picasso
The idea of “stealing” in creativity refers to:
- Borrowing
- Learning from
- Building upon
… Ideas, techniques, and styles of others.
Let’s get practical here:
Pick 10 to 20 persons you like and add them to a list.
Study content from them that resonates with you.
Write that content from your angle (not copy and paste).
Think about the content, how the concept would directly affect you and the world around you and then create content.
4. Repurpose Content
Get inspiration from yourself.
If I ever struggle to find inspiration on what to post, I simply go back to my old tweets and thread for inspiration.
There’s a whole video on repurposing content inside the mastering content writing here.
Generating content ideas doesn’t have to be a struggle. These are some of the strategies that help me generate content (which has contributed to my consistency). Try everything and see which works for you.
That's it!
