Experts estimate that the mind thinks between 60,000 - 80,000 thoughts a day. That's an average of 2500 - 3,300 thought per hour!
This is an incredible discovery, right? Because you now realize that every passing moment of the day, your mind is calculatively at work.
For entrepreneurs and creatives, these thought impulses comes with waves of fresh, new and novel ideas every 6.5 thought transition per minute. So many ideas come in and it's hard to see any of them as unworthy which leads to a syndrome - shiny object syndrome. This syndrome doesn't just affect our personal lives but also businesses too.
Walmart has a ritual. The ritual is this …
With a certain number of spaces on their shelf, items are judged within a period of time based on how well or bad it does. When an item isn't performing well enough, it gets cleared out for a better option. Walmart is protective of their shelves.
Now, applying the ''shelf space'' pattern to online businesses might just be hard(er) because products online are digital and shelves there are in-between the ears of people. In their minds.
One time, I had so many crazy ideas that I thought was so good … too good even to put out. I had the shiny object syndrome but then I realized ''Too many things on the shelf might just break the shelf!''.
Like I mentioned earlier, it's hard for entrepreneurs to ignore so many good ideas that flows in but the merely good ideas might become enemies of the great.
We have to become RUTHLESS with our mental shelf space and to solely focus on that which will grow.
Check the most performing item and clear off anything that isn't top performing.
And that's about it for this letter.
Hope it's lays a solid foundation to your shelf building.
