''Habits are what makes us''
Growing up as a teenager I had eyes for big things and was crazy about the idea of owning a lamborghini aventador, a beautiful house in the nicest neighborhood and bands of black dresses that would never end.
At 15 years old I was already conscious that I wanted wealth!
I already knew I wanted to be rich and this kind of wealth would have me not rely on anyone for it.
I read all the self help books I could lay my small hands on …
Somehow, these books kept promising to give me my dream cars and wardrobe but I kept reading and nothing!
Being a teenager with under developed brain …I just didn't know what was wrong. I kept reading and reading till I read a book by Darren Hardy.
It changed the story for me.
Instantly, I understood what was wrong and checked within to see what I did with my every day life and Oh boy!
I realized that my every day life compounded to the good or bad consequence and even if it took me more than 100 days to start on the path of working on my daily routines … It is the only way!
I had this friend that wanted to shred off some weight, Aminah. She wanted to look all curved out with the an extremely flat tummy.
Then at the start of the new year, she decided to hit the gym … singed up for a whole year plan and went on 2-3hours daily on her first trials.
5, 10 then 13th day she quite!
Why?
‘‘ I couldn't keep up with my instructor … it wasn't working anyways, I am probably stuck with the fats’’ —Aminah
Now, this is something you relate to because you're probably guilt.
You might not want to shred but you've got goals.
During the first part of the year, people get very fanatic about writing down all they want to achieve.
Social media post flys up the roof about how much they'd do before the end of the year, which isn't bad of course. Infact, it's great to get all hyped up and excited for the future but a point is missed out often.
Daily life. Daily Habits
Daily routine makes us … what you do, in large cases is what you become.
If you want to stay healthy for the next 50 years and all you do is;
Eat junk daily
Never exercise
Never meditate
And a lot more unhealthy daily lifestyle.
How would you maintain a healthy life?
The bigger picture is important but the smaller pictures is as important too. ( Probably much more important)
Working on your daily life would mean; That you know your purpose, That you've clarified your process, That you've a plan to achieve it.
Knowing your purpose is the first step to achieving anything.
Purpose give true meaning to our lives and how we live it but understand that your purpose won't be clear the first time and you don't have just ONE purpose. They come in stages from shallow to deep.
Your process, system or strategy to achieving your purpose is how to prevent your mind from declining to chaos.
Components of a daily routine depends on each segments of the day and for each of these segments, there are specific tasks that should be allocated to achieve massive results.
Mornings - Mornings are for creative and focused outputs.
The very first part of the day sets me up for whatever is in store for the rest of the day. My morning routine follows this sequence;
Meditation
Morning walks
Exercise
Read a 2 pages of a book
Afternoon - Afternoons are to fill my mind with learning and reading.
The most active part of the day would have you learn, maybe not only from the covers of books alone but learn from everything around you. From your colleagues at work to your spouse at home. Make sure to learn something new and then drop it down at the end of the day.
Evenings - Empty my mind with journaling, planning and meditation.
This is the part a lot of people don't think neccesary, writing down events of the day, but it is.
Journaling. Brain dumping
Evenings are to compare your day and ask these questions; What went well today? What didn't go well?
Then plans for tomorrow follows.
These routines feels and looks simple but I'd tell you, it's hard to want to make a U turn from old habits and curate new ones.
It's even harder to stay consistency with new habits that's why after a while of fanatic goal setting for the year, people make quick changes but then after just one month ( or even less) they drop their new found habits and continue their former lives.
Easy? No. Impossible? No
Habits can be changed as long as it starts somewhere most important … Your mind.
Your mindset is the first thing to trigger to achieve anything.
And the key things here are;
Intentionality
Consciousness
If you are intention about your life and what you do with it … You can determine the outcome of whatever projection.
And once you stay conscious of things and happenings around you, you begin to see from a more different and better perceptive.
And that's about it!
Hope this helps .. let me know in the comments.
