Hey, Friend.
You are probably wired and fired for what the new year has in store … while that is great, it is also almost unnecessary!
Yes. Nothing changes because it's a new year nor even a new day.
Things change because you actually want to change them with all the commitment.
Today's letter is going to help you kill that enemy .. Procrastination.
Procrastination is a widely spread problem. Somehow, everyone seems to struggle with it .. everyone seems to always procastinate!
Especially after 1 month of setting 'a new year resolution' … It's one thing to want to get something done but then it somehow pushes down your list till later and later … then you end up not getting it done at all.
it's a big issue.
But how do you cancel it out?
Is there a remedy for it?
Can you do without procrastination?
I bet you can … if you apply what I am going to tell you in a second.
Before that, proceed with reading this article with a mindset of ''I am ready to kill this enemy, Procrastination .. no matter what!''
So, how is this going to be possible?
Step one
Start by identifying the root cause: If you know the source then you know how to deal with it.
What extactly makes you fall out when you are supposed to be working on that project?
Your phone? Your friends? Social media? P*rn?
Find out.
Step two
Set Smart Goals: Don't just set goals by saying '' I am going to get this done sometime'' … get to the business of setting smart specific goals. Ask yourself questions like;
What, specifically do I want to accomplish?
What is the measure of this success?
Then, you quantify what the success looks like and ask a few more questions like;
Is it achievable?
Is it reasonable?
Is it relevant?
Why am I getting this goal?
Time bound - what's my time horizon to finish?
Step three
Break down goals into small tasks: Big goals can be overwhelming and daunting even.
Ex; Getting 100 new suscribers to your channel in a day or two might feel daunting to some.
Maybe 4 per day?
Step four
Create a schedule ( And stick to it): Everyone has times of the day when they are more productive that others. Figure out when you are most creative and schedule your task for those times.
Step four
Eliminate distractions: Put your phone and computer on DO NOT DISTURB mode. Get rid of notifications while you're at it. Close all tabs
Step five
Get organized: Get rid of all unnecessary junks, files and all messy things. Just your tools to complete your work.
Step six
Time management: This is a very important one and a proven technique is the Pomodoro Technique.
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method based on 25 minutes stretch of focused work broken by 5 minutes breaks.
25mins >> Focus on task
5mins >> breaks at intervals.
These six steps are the only ways to kill this enemy but application of these six steps is what will matter after all.
I hope this helps … let me know with your comments.
You see that Step No. 4 is technically impossible for me because I work with my phone and I don't get distracted by notifications rather it comes from thought in my head.
Sometimes I will just feel like leaving what am doing to check my social media.
Other times it will come when I face a small hurdle, the thought would ask me to leave my task and come back later .
How can resolve this??
